Crafter, Sprinter & TGE pop-top roofs

VW Crafter, Mercedes Sprinter & MAN TGE Pop-Tops and Roof Pods

Two ways to add space to a large van: a roof pod from £1,900 or a full pop-top from £2,550, prices inc VAT. Fitted near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

  • From £1,900 inc VAT
  • Roof bed included
  • Fitted in a day

Large vans like the Crafter, Sprinter and TGE are popular for bigger builds. There are two roof options for them, and they suit different builds.

A pop-top gives a separate sleeping deck with canvas sides, a hatch and a carpeted bed area included. A roof pod is a fixed fibreglass section that adds height and space without canvas. It can be lined and finished inside, and add a skylight for light and air.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a roof pod and a pop-top?

A pop-top lifts up on struts, with canvas sides and a bed deck. A roof pod is a fixed fibreglass section that permanently adds height and space, with no canvas to put up.

How much is a pop-top for a Mercedes Sprinter?

From £2,550 inc VAT for MWB and longer, including black scenic canvas, a hatch entrance and a carpeted bed area.

How much is a roof pod for a VW Crafter?

From £1,900 inc VAT in white. The internal finish is £1,000 more, and skylight vents start at £250.

Do you fit pop-tops to the MAN TGE?

Yes. The TGE shares the current Crafter’s body, so the same roofs and prices apply.

How long does it take to fit a pop-top roof?

Standard roofs are fitted in a day. You drop the van off at 8am and collect it the same evening. If you choose a colour-coded roof or larger extras, we will confirm the timing when you book.

Do I need to tell my insurer about a pop-top roof?

Yes. A pop-top is a modification and your insurer needs to know before you drive. Specialist campervan insurers cover them routinely.

Will a pop-top roof let me register my van as a motor caravan?

Not on its own. DVLA guidance counts a high-top roof as a motor caravan feature but specifically excludes pop-top elevating roofs. Reclassification depends on other external features, such as side windows, a habitation door, graphics or an awning bar, plus fitted seats, a table, sleeping, cooking and storage inside.

Can I get a courtesy van while mine is being fitted?

Yes. A VW Caddy can be hired for £50 a day, or a VW camper for £70 a day on weekdays. Drivers must be 25 or over with a clean licence.
