The Mk7 Transit, built from 2006 to 2014, is tough, simple and cheap to buy. That makes it a popular budget camper base. A pop-top gives a low-roof Mk7 standing room and a double bed without the height of a fixed high top.
Because these vans are now ten years old or more, the condition of the roof matters. The roof is checked before fitting, and any rust or previous repairs in the area to be cut are discussed with you first.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a pop-top roof for a Mk7 Transit?
From £2,550 inc VAT for the SWB van, with the roof bed included.
Can you fit a pop-top to a high-roof Transit?
A pop-top replaces a section of a low roof. If your van already has a high roof, a pop-top is not usually the right option; ask us.
Is my older Transit suitable for a pop-top?
Usually, yes. The roof is inspected first, and any rust or old repairs where the aperture will be cut are discussed before work starts.
How long does it take to fit a pop-top roof?
Standard roofs are fitted in a day. You drop the van off at 8am and collect it the same evening. If you choose a colour-coded roof or larger extras, we will confirm the timing when you book.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a pop-top roof?
Yes. A pop-top is a modification and your insurer needs to know before you drive. Specialist campervan insurers cover them routinely.
Will a pop-top roof let me register my van as a motor caravan?
Not on its own. DVLA guidance counts a high-top roof as a motor caravan feature but specifically excludes pop-top elevating roofs. Reclassification depends on other external features, such as side windows, a habitation door, graphics or an awning bar, plus fitted seats, a table, sleeping, cooking and storage inside.
Can I get a courtesy van while mine is being fitted?
Yes. A VW Caddy can be hired for £50 a day, or a VW camper for £70 a day on weekdays. Drivers must be 25 or over with a clean licence.

Fit more while the van is in
Many customers add other upgrades on the same visit: electrics and solar, windows and rooflights, awnings, insulation and carpet lining, or a full campervan conversion.
